Meet the Modeller: Gustav Bolstad
Terravera Foundation is pleased to introduce our newest modeller, Gustav Bolstad. Currently completing an MSc in Finance at the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH), Gustav brings a strong analytical foundation in financial markets and sustainable finance to the team. He believes that robust, well-grounded data is what allows companies to make sound decisions during the green transition.
Gustav Bolstad is eager to help deliver analytical insights for companies to better act on the green transition.
From Green Bonds to Energy Markets
Gustav's interest in sustainable finance took shape during his bachelor's thesis, where he examined whether green bonds carry lower credit spread than conventional loans, drawing on a dataset of roughly 30,000–40,000 bonds across the Nordics and Europe, including conversations with Statkraft and Hydro. He has since built on this foundation through internships at TotalEnergies, where he worked on finance and tax, and at Vår Energi, where he works on the commercial side of gas sales to the European market.
Discovering Terravera Through Sustainable Finance
Gustav first came across Terravera through a guest lecture on the Sustainable Finance course at NHH, where the foundation's work was presented as a bridge between businesses, universities, and students. He was drawn to the opportunity to apply financial and analytical methods to companies with a substantial footprint on the Norwegian economy, particularly within the energy sector.
Ready to Contribute
With his first project set to begin in August, Gustav is looking forward to contributing analytical work that companies genuinely act on, while also valuing the interdisciplinary nature of Terravera's model, where business students and engineering students work side by side.
“When we move into working life, economists and engineers end up working closely together. Having that kind of collaboration already as students gives both sides a better foundation, ultimately serving as a great advantage for the companies Terravera advises too.”
